Playing Around

Don't let my appearance deceive you, I'm really only 8 years old on the inside. Which is why I was so excited and surprised by the 8-bit art displays on campus and the yoda plush pillow in Target. If they made Star Wars bedsheets in King size, Daniel would have seriously purchased them.
I wanted to bring her home with me

Fortunate Circumstances

7-11 Man
Tradition, that's what 7-11 free slurpie day is all about. I had almost completely forgotten about it, however, until my coworker came into work and announced it. So I hoped on my bike and headed down to get my free piece of tradition (along with 711 other people who were all standing outside the joint.)

how fortunate

Thursday Daniel and I decided to act cool and take public transportation up to the U of U where we had a great lunch with his sister, Sarah. I felt super lucky when I got a fortune cookie that announced I would be "showered with luck" the next day. Little did I know that I should be careful what I wished  for.

Friday the 13th was a lucky day--- bad luck. It was raining on my way home from work and as I was on the last leg of the journey, I got hit by a car while I was crossing the street. Miraculously I was okay, not even a scratch or bruise or anything. My bike, on the other hand, did not come out with such good results.

Thankfully the man who hit me was very responsible, and so hopefully his insurance will pay for the damages that were accrued on my bike. Also, this helpful officer helped me take my bike home.

Then on Sunday we got to go visit some of Daniel's mission friends as we went to his mission president's home coming.

Birthday Bash

Daniel turned 22 on Sunday and in celebration we invited some of his mission buddies over for pizza on Saturday night. Because we all know, that's the favorite of every Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. They then went to the Nickelcade and proceeded to dominate on the TMNT video game.

On Sunday, I finally got to give Daniel the lab coat I have been working on. This was my first, and probably last, attempt at embroidery. Daniel and Scott made some origami and then Daniel had a lot of fun icing his Tetris birthday cake.

Also, check out this sweet Sweddish Fiddle man that I found while doing the Provo Art Chase.

America the Beautiful

This year Daniel and I were more patriotic than usual. I volunteered to sing in:

 the Stadium of Fire

Choir-- or as I affectionately nicknamed it, the Stadium of Choir. It consumed a lot of my time (about 20 hours), but I get to hang out with my good friend, Aaron, sing back up to Alex Boye, and score tickets for Daniel and Louis.

We also had some cool visitors last week, they flew all the way from Hawaii to hang out and play games with us. Scott also pulled out his "treasure" a Hungarian gold coin he inherited from his grandfather that makes him look uncommonly similar to a leprechaun.

Daniel and I also spent a good deal of time in the sun. First while playing tennis with our Canadian friend and then volunteering at the kids' activities in Provo. I got to help kids make marble art. Daniel helped me for about ten minutes before he got wrangled into watching the bounce house.

Kids + art = fun
